01Case study — live business
Orland Park, Illinois

When the website is the entire front of house.

Fixbulance

Mobile device repairFounder project

A mobile phone repair business with no storefront — the van is the shop. Everything depends on being found on a phone and booked in under a minute.

The Fixbulance website
02The challenge

No storefront means no second chance.

Fixbulance has no walk-in traffic to fall back on. If a customer with a cracked screen searches, finds the site, and cannot book within a minute, the job goes to a mall kiosk instead. The site had to work as the entire front of house: discovery, trust, quote, booking, confirmation.

  • 01No storefront, so no passive discovery — 100% of demand is search, referral or social
  • 02Service area spanning Orland Park plus roughly ten miles of surrounding suburbs, each of which people search for by name
  • 03Booking had to run reliably enough that a customer never calls to ask whether it worked
  • 04Owner-operated, so any process that needs manual attention during a repair does not get done
03What was built

Not a redesign brief. Infrastructure.

This is the part most web agencies subcontract or skip entirely.

Site and infrastructure

  • Application server behind an nginx reverse proxy on a dedicated VPS
  • Let's Encrypt TLS with automated renewal, HTTP forced to HTTPS
  • Security headers: X-Frame-Options, X-Content-Type-Options, Referrer-Policy, and a scoped Content-Security-Policy for the embedded booking origin
  • gzip compression and immutable long-cache headers on static and media assets
  • Hardened paths — dotfiles and internal routes blocked at the edge

Booking

  • Booking system integrated under the main domain so the customer never leaves the brand
  • Frame-ancestor policy configured so the embedded flow works across apex and www without breaking same-origin checks
  • Direct phone path kept prominent for customers who will not use a form

Local search

  • Service-area pages for the surrounding suburbs rather than one generic page
  • Google Business Profile as the primary discovery surface, with the site as the conversion surface
  • Review display on-site tied to the profile that produces them

04Results

Data not yet available.

Before/after performance data is not yet published. We are recording a clean baseline — search position, calls, form submissions and booking completion — and will publish the delta once there is a full period to compare against. We would rather show nothing than show a number we cannot defend.

What we can state

  • The site is live and serving the business at fixbulance.com.
  • The public site states 7,000+ devices repaired and displays a 5.0 Google rating. Those are the business's own published figures, not a result we are claiming credit for.

If you have been pitched a case study with a big percentage, no baseline, no date range and no method — this is what the honest version looks like before the data exists.

05What we learned

Three things that transfer to every local service business.

    01

For a business with no storefront, booking reliability is the product. A booking flow that fails once costs more than a redesign gains.

    02

Suburb-by-suburb pages beat one 'areas we serve' list, because that is how people actually type the search.

    03

Anything requiring the owner to remember to do it will not happen. It has to be automatic or it does not exist.
